Every fan of the X-Men comic books or the X-Men films has a favourite character. And, nine times out of ten, that favourite character is the mighty Wolverine. So, it’s no wonder that Playtech decided to add a Wolverine themed slot to its range of Marvel slot machine games.

“Wolverine” is a 5-reel, 25-payline slot and it’s based on the comic book, not the movie. Marvel comic book fans will definitely appreciate that. However, visually, the game doesn't live up to some of Playtech's other superhero-themed slots. Not to say it looks bad, but they've done better work. However, this game offers a few special features that will give you a chance to hit some decent wins. These include Stacked Wilds, Scatters, Free Spins, and an interesting on reels feature.

Wolverine himself is the Wild symbol. This symbol substitutes for all other symbols except the Scatter symbol, the Beserker Rage symbol and the Adamantium Syringe symbol. The Wolverine symbol can appear stacked on 1, 2 or 3 positions across any of the five reels, which increases your chances of forming a winning combination. In the base game, the wins are generally low, but the Wolverine Stacked Wilds trigger often enough to keep your bankroll ticking over. What is more, hitting 5 Wilds on an active payline will award you with 3,000 coins.

Catching 3, 4 or 5 Scatters in shape of game logos anywhere on the reels will give you wins of 5, 25 or a 100 coins respectively.

The Beserker Rage symbol appears only on reel 5 and when this happens, it triggers the Berserker Rage Feature. Depending on the position it lands on the fifth reel, it will award you with one re-spin with some additional features. If the symbol appears at the bottom of the reel, two reels will be turned into Stacked Wilds. If it lands on the middle position, 3, 4 or 5 random Wilds will appear anywhere. If you get that symbol in the top position, Wolverine will distribute 2, 3 or 4 Wilds horizontally on the reels adjacent from left to right.

3 or more Adamantium Syringe symbols appearing anywhere on the reels will trigger 12 Free Spins. However, the more symbols you catch the more levels of an Adamantium tank will be filled. 3, 4, or 5 triggering symbols will fill 4, 8 or 12 levels respectively. During the Free Spins round, additional Adamantium Syringe symbols appearing on the reels will increase the Adamantium meter by one. But what is this tank used for? The Adamantium level can freeze stacked Wolverine Wild symbols into place. The Adamantium Free Spins game is certainly fun and well thought out, although it may be a little confusing at first.
